The Music Lodge braces itself on Saturday 28th October at 10.30am at Cardiff Masonic Hall to initiate the impressive 6ft 7in bass-baritone, Anthony Stuart Lloyd, described by The Daily Telegraph with a voice of “Rolls-Royce sumptuousness”.
The secretary of the Music Lodge said:
“Anthony will bring a whole new dimension to the Lodge and our musical festive board.
Anthony received the Sir Geraint Evans Scholarship, which enabled him to attend The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Other awards and accolades include; winning, the ‘Blue Riband’ at Royal National Eisteddfod and the inaugural Sir Geraint Evans Memorial Prize. He is also a recipient of a National Mozart Competition prize.
The Welsh National Opera, recognised Anthony’s immense potential casting him in several roles, including Timur – Turandot, Bartolo – Le Nozze di Figaro, Basilio – Il Barber di Siviglia, Commendatore – Don Giovanni, Gran Sacerdote – Nabucco, Bonze – Madam Butterfly and La Voce – Idomeneo. His vocal talent drew him to the attention of continental Europe where he sang at Freiburg Opera initially where his roles included: Leporello – Don Giovanni.
Anthony’s West End credits include ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ on Drury Lane, Howard Keel: The Centennial: Celebration at ‘Live at Zédel’, Piccadilly Circus and the London Palladium Production of Scrooge – The Musical.
A Royal Command Performance, for His Majesty The Sultan of Oman’s 30th Jubilee at the Bait al-Barakah Palace, saw Anthony invited to return for a perform at the Al Bustan Palace.
Anthony will most certainly be warmly welcomed by the brethren of the Music Lodge, some of whom are close friends of his.”
