On Monday 25th of March 2024 the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. D. Gerald Rowbottom was installed as Worshipful Master of South Wales Lodge of Advancement No. 8748.
Over 70 Brethren many from across multiple Provinces attended Neath Masonic Hall in support of the newly Installed Worshipful Master who attained his 9th Chair in the process.
The original warrant of the lodge belonged to Saint Cecilia Lodge who were consecrated on St Davids Day in 1977 at Penarth Masonic Hall. Unfortunately over the years the membership dwindled. With the surrender of the Lodge warrant becoming likely, on the 13th of September 2023, rather than the Lodge be erased, it was repurposed, re-homed, and re-named, to South Wales Lodge of Advancement, now meeting at Neath Masonic Hall. The Lodge has increased its membership attracting many Brethren from across the Province, the stability and future planning will enable the Lodge to survive and thrive for many years to come, which is testament to the hard work and commitment of all its new members.
The Installation evening was a wonderful occasion, with the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Andrew Hollo-Tass opening the lodge, then handing the gavel over to the Installing Master, W.Bro. Huw Parry Evans, who installed the Provincial Grand Master into the Chair of King Solomon, with aplomb.
