Annual Strawberry Tea at Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court

Saturday 1st June… The Sun was shining, the Music was playing, the Strawberries were glistening, and the laughter could be heard all around, this could only mean one thing… The Annual Strawberry Tea. Another year, another Strawberry Tea, held in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings of the RMBI, Albert Edward Prince of Wales Court, in Porthcawl. Lots of fun, laughter, music, and friendship.

The day began earlier for some than others, the fabulous and dedicated stall holders had set up early in the morning, in readiness to sell everything from stationery, cakes, teddies, lucky dips, Masonic regalia, handbags, jewellery, and much much more.

Arlington Road Acoustics provided the live entertainment for people of all ages, many of whom were singing along and dancing. There was lots of fun & games for the children to play and take part in, it was such a delight to see so many young families in attendance all having fun in the sunshine. The Widows Sons who are some what of a fixture at the Strawberry Tea in recent years, were In attendance and allowed children and parents the opportunity to sit on their bikes and have photographs taken.

The official opening was conducted by the R.W Provincial Grand Master, D. Gerald Rowbottom, accompanied by care home Manager, Alison Aberdeen, and Chairman, W.Bro. Phillip Aubrey. The Provincial Grand Master expressed his gratitude and pride to all the staff of AEPOWC for the outstanding care they provide, and thanked everyone for their attendance and support. Chairman, W.Bro. Phillip Aubrey, thanked the Association of Friends for all their hard work not only for today, but throughout the year, including the many volunteers who have given their time to help and assist.

It was tremendous to see so many of the Past and Joint Executive in attendance who were delighted to speak to Brethren, Companions and their families. Thank you to W.Bro. Paul Newport for filling as M.C for the day in the absence of W.Bro. Philip Saunders.

Finally a big thank you to the Association of Friends of AEPOWC for all their hard work, to the many volunteers who have given their time to help manage the stalls and assist in making this event special and memorable, to all the staff of AEPOWC for their wonderful hospitality, and to the residents for allowing us into their beautiful and majestic home to share this wonderful day with them.
