On Saturday, 1st June, Beaufort Lodge No. 3834, hosted a charity evening at Swansea Masonic Hall in aid of Morgan’s Army. The event was honoured by the presence of the Provincial Grand Master, R.WBro. D. Gerald Rowbottom.
The evening featured an auction and raffle that collectively raised £495.00. This amount was generously match-funded by the Masonic Samaritan Fund, bringing the total for the night to £990.00.
W.Bro. Andrew Goodall, the event organiser, extended his heartfelt thanks to the Provincial Grand Master for presenting a cheque for £1,250.00 on behalf of Masonic Benevolence Fund to Morgan’s mother, Natalie. Andy also expressed his gratitude to several key contributors: W.Bro. Gwynne Jones for managing the payments; Bro. Gavin McKay for handling bookings and the dining plan; Bro. Ian Williams for his efforts in selling raffle tickets and motivating guests to support the charity. A special acknowledgment was given to W.Bro. Jim Needs, who stepped in as Director of Ceremonies for the evening, and for showcasing his craftsmanship by making a guitar that will be auctioned by the charity at a later date. W.Bro. Keith Ferguson was also praised for stepping in as Chaplain and event photographer at short notice. Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Kevin Folley who was responsible for arranging a donation from Beaufort Lodge and for promoting the event during his Masonic travels.
Additional donations came from the Swansea Almoners and Doric Lodge for the sum of £300 respectively, as well as donations from various circles.
On a final note W.Bro Andrew announced his delight that the figure will be in excess of £6,000 which will support families facing the unimaginable battle against childhood cancer.
