On 4th March 2025, the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, D. Gerald Rowbottom, proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant at Swansea Masonic Hall. This significant occasion reaffirms the ongoing commitment of the Province to supporting those who serve, have served and indeed will serve in His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
Joining him in co-signing this historic document were Air Commodore (Air Officer Wales), Rob Wood OBE ADC RAF, and Lieutenant Colonel Tom Shaw, Commanding Officer of the 157th (Welsh) Regiment RLC- Royal Logistic Corps. The presence of two high ranking serving military officers in Wales, highlights the deep and enduring relationship between the Masonic community and the Armed Forces.
The signing of the covenant was witnessed by The Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan, Mrs. Louise Fleet, and The Lord Mayor of Swansea, Councillor Paxton Hood Williams, along with distinguished guests from the military and Freemasonry, many of whom have served their country with great honour.
The Provincial Grand Master was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, the Rev. Canon D. Huw E. Mosford and Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Dr. Akram Baig.
The Swansea Masonic Hall very kindly provided a fitting and welcoming venue for the occasion, with attendees enjoying its excellent facilities and a superb buffet; generously provided for all guests.
The event proved a wonderful opportunity to recognise the service and sacrifices of our Armed Forces and celebrate the values of service, integrity and community that Freemasonry and the military share.
The Province of South Wales is honoured to support the Armed Forces Covenant and remains steadfast in its commitment.
