At the July Meeting of the Provincial Executive, the Provincial Grand Master designate, V.W.Bro. Gareth Jones, PGSwdB, announced that the new Deputy Provincial Grand Master would be W.Bro. Roy Woodward, PSGD (pictured left) and the new Assistant Grand Master would be W.Bro. Gerald Rowbottom, PAGDC.
W.Bro. Roy is well known in our Province and requires no introduction. Our new Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. D. Gerald Rowbottom, PAGDC, was born in Swansea in 1962 and attended Bishop Gore School before enlisting in The Life Guards in 1978. On leaving the Army in 1988, he moved into Property Development, whilst studying for his first degree with the Open University, prior to completing a Politics Degree at the University of Wales, Swansea. Further periods at University followed when he changed career direction into the Social Care field and relocated back to Wales.
Initiated into the Kensington Battalion Lodge No.3624, London in 1988, Gerald celebrates his Silver Jubilee this year! He is the current Worshipful Master of his Mother Lodge, in their Centenary year, having previously served as Worshipful Master in 1994 – 1996. He became a Joining Member of Beaufort Lodge No. 3834, Swansea in 1991 and served as Worshipful Master in 2007. He became a Joining Member of Edgar Rutter Lodge No. 7196, Cardiff, and served as Worshipful Master in 2010. He became a Joining Member of Lodge of Benevolence No. 7305, Bridgend in 2008. In Provincial Grand Lodge, he was appointed Past Assistant Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1999 and promoted to Provincial Grand Mentor in 2011. He was appointed to the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in the United Grand Lodge of England in 2008.
Both W.Br. Roy and W.Bro. Gerald will be Invested at the Investiture of our new Provincial Grand Master, V.W.Bro. Gareth Jones at Barry Memorial Hall, on Wednesday 4th September. We extend our heartiest good wishes to them all.
