On 29th of June, 2024, the joint Annual Meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Chapter took place at Barry Memorial Hall.
At 2:30 p.m, the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Merrick Jones, called the Brethren to order, to welcome and receive rulers, dignitaries, and distinguished Brethren into Provincial Grand Lodge. The arrival was met with enthusiastic applause from all in attendance.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Geraint Davies, then called the Brethren to order to receive the R.W. Provincial Grand Master and his executives, accompanied by the Provincial team, which again was greeted with a spontaneous round of applause.
The Provincial Grand Master immediately proceeded with the investiture of W.Bro. R. Michael Coombes as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. This wonderful and moving ceremony was greeted with a jubilant round of applause, reflecting the high regard in which W.Bro. Michael is held within the Province.
On this occasion, the Provincial Grand Master afforded the responsibility and honour of investing the Brethren to the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V.W.Bro. D. Huw E. Mosford, who promptly proceeded to appoint and invest the Brethren.
The Provincial Grand Master then addressed the Brethren, expressing his delight with the efforts made on the membership strategy, the turning of the shovel at Bridgend, the Tercentenary, the Festival planning, and much more. His full address can be read here.
The Provincial Grand Master was also delighted and honored to present a certificate of commendation to W.Bro’s Richard Pelzer and Elfan Jones, stating, “I am pleased to announce that these Brethren have been awarded my Certificate of Commendation. These honors are truly well-deserved for such dedicated servants of the Royal Craft here in South Wales. The summonses for Lodges of which they are members will now reflect these honors, as will the Year Book.”
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master then expressed the collective gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the Provincial Grand Master, highlighting his passion, drive, and commitment, which was met with a resounding round of applause.
