W.Brethren, Brethren all,
Some of you with an interest in antiques, and thus watchers of the BBC programme Bargain Hunt, may already be aware of the featuring of Freemasonry in Worcester that appeared earlier today. Tim Wonnacott, the presenter of the programme visited the Masonic Lodge Museum in Worcester – reputedly the second largest such Museum in the country – the feature presenting Freemasonry in a very positive way, which was a pleasure to see and hear. Elements of the dialogue included our charitable giving, famous members – including Sir Winston Churchill, Laurel and Hardy and Mozart to name but a few, and also featured the rare Hogarth Jewel of 1753, along with many other items of interest, such as Jewel from the time of the Napoleonic Wars, and the Msonic membership of The Prince of Wales, who went on to become King Edward 7th, and our Grand Master.
If you missed the programme I believe it can still be seen on i-player, and I must also thank W.Bro. Chris Mugford of the Duke of York Lodge No.2453 who was kind enough to contact me about it.
Roger Gale,
MODERATOR
