On January 9th, 1975, W.Bro. Neil Matthews began his remarkable Masonic journey at Baglan Lodge No. 6079, Port Talbot. From the day of his initiation, W.Bro. Neil has shown unwavering dedication to Freemasonry, progressing steadily through the various offices within the Lodges he has served. His memorable and remarkable journey includes his attainment of the Chair of King Solomon for the first time at Lodge of Sker No. 8024, Porthcawl, in 1990, Grafton Lodge No. 2347 (London) in May 2008, becoming Worshipful Master of the Lodge of Peace and Harmony No. 60 (London) in October 2011, and Installed as Worshipful Master of Lord Swansea Lodge No. 8364 in November 2017.
W.Bro. Neil’s remarkable service has been recognised at both Provincial and Grand Lodge levels. In Provincial Grand Lodge W.Bro. Neil was appointed Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon (PPrJGD) in 1998.
In Grand Lodge, W.Bro. Neil was appointed Past Assistant Grand Superintendent of Works (PAGSuptWks) in 2000, and was subsequently appointed to the acting rank of Assistant Grand Superintendent of Works in 2007, and appointed to the acting rank of Deputy Grand Superintendent of Works in 2009, W.Bro. Neil had the most gracious honour to serve as a Grand Steward in 2012, further solidifying his outstanding commitment and service to Freemasonry.
To commemorate this extraordinary milestone of 50 years, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Dr. Akram Baig, had the privilege of presenting W.Bro. Neil with a 50-year certificate and a lapel pin badge. This special presentation took place at his home in Cardiff, a fitting tribute to a lifetime of dedication, honour, and service to Freemasonry.
