On Monday, the 12th of February, 2024, Lodge of St Theodore No. 8536, Port Talbot, witnessed a significant event under the guidance and leadership of AProvGM, W.Bro. Dr Akram Baig, who served as the executive officer on duty.
The Installation Ceremony, a sacred and cherished tradition within our Lodges, is a wonderful and momentous occasion, however, it wasn’t the sole reason for celebration that evening.
W.Bro. Barrie John Phillips, a distinguished figure within the fraternity, was honoured for his remarkable 50-year journey in Freemasonry. Half a century earlier, on the 10th of January 1974, W.Bro. Barrie embarked on his Masonic journey with his initiation into Baglan Lodge No. 6079. Over the years W.Bro. Barrie ascended through the various offices before attaining the Chair of King Solomon on the 9th of April 1987.
W.Bro. Barrie’s dedication and expertise were further demonstrated when he joined the ranks of Lodge of St Theodore No. 8536 on the 17th of October 2005, becoming Worshipful Master on the 13th of February 2012. Throughout his extensive Masonic career, W.Bro. Barrie has earned the respect and admiration of his peers, possessing a wealth of knowledge and experience that enriches the fraternity.
Years of unwavering dedication and involvement in the Craft culminated in further accolades, W.Bro Barrie was appointed PPrAGDC on 28th June 1993, and promoted to PPrGSwdB on 26th June 2017.
In recognition of his exemplary service and commitment, AProvGM, W.Bro. Dr Akram Baig, had the privilege of presenting W.Bro. Barrie with a prestigious 50-year Certificate and Lapel Pin, symbolising a lifetime of dedication to the principles and values of Freemasonry. The evening served as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy and camaraderie that defines our Lodges and Chapters.
