On Monday, June 17, 2024, the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. D. Gerald Rowbottom, along with his Provincial team, led the Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Ystrad Mynach Lodge No. 8567, marking 50 years since the Lodge’s consecration.
The event was attended by nearly 80 Brethren, including the PAGM, R.W.Bro. Gareth Jones OBE, members of the joint executive (both past and present), an array of Grand Lodge officers, and acting Provincial Grand Lodge Officers. W.Bro. Simon Daniel, PAGDC, 3PGP, conducted the celebration, providing a detailed history of Ystrad Mynach Lodge from its inception to the present day. His speech highlighted the Lodge’s strong family connections, featuring members such as grandfathers, fathers, sons, and sons-in-law, which contribute to the Lodge’s warm and welcoming atmosphere then and now. W.Bro. Thomas Jeffrey Evans, a member for 34 years, shared his experiences and fond memories, including the honour of initiating his son, W.Bro. Hywel Evans, nearly 19 years ago. Both have served as Master of the Lodge on three occasions, with W.Bro. Jeff currently serving as Lodge Almoner, a role he has held for 20 years.
The evening’s festivities included a performance by Bro. Anthony Stuart Lloyd of the Music Lodge, who entertained the attendees with his remarkable vocal talent. The charitable spirit of Ystrad Mynach Lodge was also evident, with over £800 raised through alms and raffle collections, earmarked for various charities and groups. The event was a fitting tribute to the Lodge’s 50-year legacy of fraternity, friendship, and charity.
