The Sea Cadet Corps is an organisation for young people, based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. In addition to providing training in maritime activities such as sailing, rowing, canoeing, powerboating, etc, it also encourages leadership, discipline and other sporting activities. Qualifications can be gained in specialisations such as marine engineering, physical training, catering, communications & IT, and drill. SCC units also regularly support Royal Navy and Royal British Legion events, Remembrance Sunday Parades being a typical example.
TS Resolute is one of several SCC units within South Wales District, each of which is a registered charity in its own right, relying upon donations in order to survive. In 2020, TS Resolute suffered two major floods which caused untold structural damage and destroyed much of the unit’s equipment. The unit is now repaired and running again, but this has come at huge financial cost, and thus funds are still desperately required in order for the unit to remain open.
