Penybont Lodge No.6743 supports Diabetes UK

The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Kevin Robertson, ensured that his full support was given to his nominated charity Diabetes UK. The charity offers care, support, and advice to millions of people, helping them manage their diabetes, they campaign for change, so people get the best treatment and standards of care and fund ground-breaking research supporting some of the greatest transformations in diabetes care and helping save lives.

Penybont Lodge members contributed to a range of fund raising activities. These proceeds together with two very successful social evenings, allowed W.Bro. Kevin and his wife Maddie, to donate £1.010.00 to Diabetes UK.

W.Bro. Kevin Robertson expressed his gratitude for the support of the fundraising, saying “Once again, the generosity of the members of Penybont Lodge reflects well on their understanding of the objectives of Freemasonry. This is an important charity for my wife, Maddie and I, as our family has been affected by diabetes.” Maddie added “Having worked in schools and having Type 1 diabetes myself, I recognise the need to ensure that accurate and speedy diagnosis of diabetes in young people. Diabetes UK undertakes a great deal of support work to ensure that young and old alike receive the proper care and attention to enable them to succeed in their daily lives.” Speaking at the presentation, W. Bro Kevin said “Maddie and I are delighted to see the Lodge support this cause. The challenging circumstances in which many find themselves can receive assistance from DIABETES UK and we know that the charity will put this contribution to good use in supporting their work.”

The Lodge Charity Steward, W. Bro. Bill Wilson, said “As a diabetic myself, I recognise the need to support the work of this charity which assists those through advice, care and support through medical research.”

Penybont Grand Lodge Officer, W. Bro. Byron F. Butler stated that he was delighted to see the response from the Brethren of the Lodge in supporting this cause. He continued by expressing his thanks to W. Bro. Kevin Robertson, his wife, and the members of the Penybont Lodge for their work in undertaking this vital assistance.

Joe Cuff, Regional Fundraiser for Diabetes UK said “Our vision is a world where diabetes cannot harm. As a charity, we are leading the fight against the UK’s biggest and growing health crisis. This is a fight that involves us all as we need to share knowledge and tackle diabetes together. The generous financial support given by the Lodge will undoubtedly help our work with young and older people alike.”
