The Masonic Fishing Charity has changed lives by providing a stimulating fishing experience to anyone with Special Needs of all ages and requirements. This is far more than just a day’s fishing though! It enables our participants to gain in confidence, meet new challenges and achieve tangible results. It helps renew their confidence in meeting people and interactive with adults from outside their spheres.
What happens at an event?
Our guests are introduced on a one-to-one basis to their fishing guide for the day who involves them as much as possible with casting, playing and landing the fish.
Once everyone in the team have received the appropriate fishing and safety equipment we head off for a day’s fishing! We break around midday for a leisurely lunch which, of course is provided free of charge. Tea, coffee, drinks and snacks are readily available throughout the whole day also completely free of charge.
In fact, the whole event including all the fishing, safety equipment and catering is entirely FREE to all our participants and volunteers!
As the event draws to a close we have a presentation ceremony where all the participan ts are presented with their own Fishing Ability Certificate. There are also medals for those who have achieved an outstanding personal triumph – no matter how big or small.
How you can help
There are several very important ways you can help The Masonic Fishing Charity support these events all over the country.
By Volunteering
We have an army of volunteers and not all of them are Anglers! We welcome help in all aspect of The Masonic Fishing Charity from preparation and organising an event through to the many tasks involved on the day itself. You do not need to be a freemason to get involved.
Whether you can spare a day or two for the actual event or perhaps few hours a month to get involved with the organising and set up of an event, your help would be most welcome.
By Donating
As a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers every penny donated goes directly towards providing events for our participants with special needs. This is quite an achievement!
However, each year the Charity has to raise approximately £50 per participant to run the events – and without the generosity of people like you we would not be able to run as many events throughout the UK as we currently do.
You can donate online at www.mtsfc.org.uk, or Text LINEO1 (followed by the amount) to 70070
