W.Bro. David’s incredible journey in Freemasonry began on the 23rd of January 1975, when he was initiated into Hamlet of Van Lodge No. 8334 in Caerphilly. Over the years, his steadfast commitment and hard work has seen him progress through every office of the Lodge, culminating in his installation as Worshipful Master on the 27th of November 1986. Along the way, W.Bro. David also took on numerous non-progressive roles of great importance, further demonstrating his dedication to the Craft.
Recognising his contributions, W.Bro. David was appointed Past Provincial Grand Registrar in 1999. His dedication earned him further recognition with promotions to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2011 and Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden in 2017. These honours reflect not only his tireless work but the immense respect he commands within the Masonic community.
In 2009, W.Bro. David became a joining member of Hendre Lodge No. 3250.
He was made an honorary member of Craig yr Hesg Lodge No. 6724 in 2020 and became a joining member of Danycoed Lodge No. 8127 in 2024.
A particularly cherished memory for W.Bro. David was serving as Senior Warden of Hendre Lodge No. 3250 on the 25th of October 2018, while his dear friend, the late W.Bro. Arthur O’Neil, served as Worshipful Master—a moment he holds close to his heart and an occasion he will never forget.
Throughout his 50 years, W.Bro. David has been a guiding light within Freemasonry. His tireless encouragement and support of new and junior Brethren, coupled with his wisdom and willingness to listen, have made him a pillar of strength within the Lodge. Known as the “voice of reason,” he has always been a source of sound advice and a welcoming presence for any Brother in need.
At Hendre Lodge on Thursday the 23rd of January, W.Bro. Dr. Akram Baig had the honour and privilege to present W.Bro. David with his 50 year certificate, whilst the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. D. Gerald Rowbottom was delighted to present David with his lapel badge.
As W.Bro. David marks this remarkable milestone, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his decades of service, dedication, and commitment to Freemasonry in this Province, W.Bro. David, you have left an indelible mark on all who have had the privilege of knowing and working alongside you. Here’s to celebrating 50 years of an extraordinary Masonic journey!
